The Root Canal Process

Contrary to popular belief, root canal therapy is not a very painful or extensive dental treatment. We use a localized anesthetic to numb the treatment area and to keep you as comfortable as possible. After your mouth is cleaned and numbed, Dr. Walton will use specialized tools to gently make a small hole in your tooth’s enamel. Then, he will remove any damaged or infected pulp and clean the inside of your tooth. The empty space will be filled with a material called “gutta percha”, which helps to keep the structure of your tooth intact and protect it from further harm.
